The group is facilitated by volunteers who plan topics and presentations to help steer each monthly discussion.
With a different philosophical topic or idea discussed in each meeting, participants are encouraged to come prepared to join in the conversation and share ideas.
Library services coordinator Rose-Marie Walters said everyone is welcome.
“You don’t need to have done any philosophy study before coming along, all you need is an interest in exploring and discussing ideas,” Ms Walters said.
The Cessnock Philosophy Group meets at Cessnock Library on the third Friday of the month from 1pm to 3pm. The topic for the July 21 meeting is ‘Truth, lies and the grey area in between’.
It’s a free event and no booking is required, but if you would like more information, call Cessnock Library on 4993 4399.
