The Play2Learn playgroup, run by Hunter Prelude, runs every Monday morning in the school hall.
Activities include arts and crafts, dress ups and playing in the school sandpit. The playgroup also provides sensory-friendly activities.
Services provided at the free playgroup include a speech pathologist, occupational therapist, and a physiotherapist, all of whom visit once a term.
Hunter Prelude educator Leigh Hughes said the playgroup allows children and parents to get the services they need, touch base with other parents and check that their children are developing at an appropriate rate.
The playgroup held an open day on Monday, with Ability Links, Cessnock Family Support Service and Family Insight in attendance, along with members of Cessnock fire brigade.
Open to all local families, the playgroup runs every Monday from 9.30am to 11.30am at Cessnock West Public School.
