Of the 1400-plus nominees’ names that were read out at the 2017 Cessnock Customer Service Awards, Jordyn Threlfo’s was met with the biggest cheer of the night.

Mr Threlfo, 24, was named the overall winner for outstanding customer service, after taking out the community services category earlier in the evening.
Mr Threlfo, who has multiple disabilities including Down syndrome, is well-known in the central business districts of Cessnock, Kurri Kurri and Maitland.
Accompanied by his support worker Jen Quinn, he visits local businesses to help with time-saving services ranging from vacuuming and window cleaning, to letterbox drops, deliveries and pick ups, and much more.
His warm smile and excellent work ethic was recognised by several of his clients, who nominated him for the customer service awards.
Mr Threlfo was very excited to receive the award and was congratulated by a long line of well-wishers at the event.
A sold-out crowd of 270 people attended the awards at Cessnock Leagues Club on Friday night.
The awards are run by the Cessnock Chamber of Commerce, who received a record number of nominations this year – covering 1454 individuals and 62 teams across 206 businesses.
Chamber president Geoff Walker said the awards are proof that the high standard of customer service throughout the Cessnock LGA continues to grow.
“Being recognised by the public is fantastic – you are all winners,” he said.
Cessnock Performing Arts Centre’s events and ticketing officer Ainslie Rommell was the runner-up in the community services category.
Dylan Craft from Scott’s Meats took out the trade section, with Renae Forbes from Fuse Gallery the runner-up.
Rachael McGee from iTravel Cessnock won the retail award, with the runner-up trophy going to Jenny Brothers from Target.
The hospitality section was taken out by Liz Joyes from Gundog Estate, with Sarah Wood from Capercaillie Wines the runner-up.
Claudia Radnidge from Cessnock Plaza Pharmacy won the professional services category, and Amanda Wyborn from Beyond Bank Cessnock was the runner-up.
Kim Munro from Butterfly’s Fashion Boutique won the business owner of the year award, with the runner-up award going to Dayne Poole from Hunter Area Plumbing.
Cessnock District Health Benefits Fund won the team category, with iTravel Cessnock named runner-up.
