Reunion organiser Janelle Collins said last year’s inaugural gathering was such a success, it was decided to make it an annual event.
The O’Neill family arrived in Maitland from Ireland in 1844. Patrick John O’Neill and his wife Esther O’Brien brought seven children with them.
Their son, also named Patrick John O’Neill, built the old wine shop on Wollombi Road in 1878 and his son, Patrick James O’Neill, built the new wine shop next door in 1917.
The PJ O’Neill building still stands today, and recently re-opened as PJ’s Bar.
All descendants of the O’Neills are welcome to attend the reunion.
Ms Collins said other names related to the family include Hogan, Ryan, Harrigan, Mooney, Hickey, Kerr, Sweetman, Boland, Smith, Cruckshank, Enright, Love and Jacka.
The gathering will start at 11am. RSVP to Cathy on 02 6582 1450 or 0413 552 696, or Janelle on 0402 667 802 or janellemcollins@hotmail.com.
