Newcastle has replaced Sydney as host of the season-ending Supercars race. The Newcastle 500 will be run on a new 2.6km street circuit, where Holden driver Jamie Whincup and Ford’s Scott McLaughlin will fight it out for the 2017 crown.

When?
The race is set on the streets of Newcastle over three days from Friday, November 24, to Sunday, November 26. The two main 250km races are on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

What is the race schedule?
The Virgin Australia Supercars Championship will take to the track along with other support categories across the weekend. Here is the rundown of what to watch and when.
What does the track look like?
Race drivers in the Newcastle 500 will reach 150kmh down the twisty beach-front road this weekend.
Watching two-tonne racing cars screaming around the streets will be a thrilling spectacle for diehards and once-a-year fans alike.
What about the concerts?
Australian rock legends Cold Chisel will perform at the inaugural Newcastle 500 on Saturday, November 25, alongside alt-rockers Spiderbait.
On Friday, identical twins Lisa and Jessica Origliasso of The Veronicas will perform before Delta Goodrem hits the stage.
To access the concert ticket holders must collect a concert zone wristband from one of the four information booths in the event precinct. Wristbands can be collected only on the day for that night's performance.
The Saturday night concert zone is at capacity. Holders of Saturday tickets bought on or before November 10 are eligible to collect a Saturday concert zone wristband.
