The club will host the Australian Four-Day Enduro (A4DE) in April next year.
It’s the 40th anniversary of the event, which was founded by the Cessnock club in 1978 to give riders experience in multi-day events.
The Cessnock club went on to become the first Australian town to host the International Six-Days Enduro in 1992 (pictured below).
The A4DE festivities will be centred around Cessnock Showground from April 3 to 7 (the week after Easter). It will conclude with a presentation dinner at Peden’s Hotel on the Saturday night.
About 300 riders are expected to take part, with classes including enduro, veterans, masters, women, vintage and teams.
Taking into account the riders’ support crews, families and fans, the organisers predict the event will draw more than 1000 people to Cessnock.
Cessnock Motorcycle Club members met with representatives of Motorcycling NSW and Motorcycling Australia at the showground on Friday to go over the plans to date.
“Everything is well on track, but there’s still lots to be done,” Cessnock Motorcycle Club vice-president Malcolm Hall said.
Market stalls for local businesses at the showground are among the ideas being discussed.
Hall said the committee is also looking for volunteers to help in the lead-up to, and throughout, the event.
Anyone interested in volunteering can register at a4de.com.au.
