What started as a venture offering supported accommodation to a small group of people has grown into an organisation that today offers a full range of services, from accommodation to social outings and holidays, right through to community access and coordination of supports.
Finding Yellow aspires to achieve something genuinely great for people with disability by providing a range of personalised services and supports to help people with disability, their families and carers connect with their community.
With one to one support in the home and out in the community people can achieve goals and live life to full.
In addition to their group accommodation in Cessnock, a new development will commence in 2018 on North Avenue which will include residential accommodation and commercial offices.
In 2016 Finding Yellow acquired Lower Hunter Peer Support (also known as Disability Social Circles) in Weston. This program is focused on creating social opportunities and community inclusion for people with disability.
The members at Social Circles not only participate in weekly activities but also holidays and cruises to various destinations in throughout Australia.
The Coordinator of Supports joined the Finding Yellow family in 2017 and has over 15 years industry experience which includes working with not for profit providers and the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).
The Coordinator offers a range of support services to assist and strengthen connecions and coordinate informal, mainstream, community and funded supports; assist with negotiating services to be provided, budgets, develop service agreements and resolve any problems that may arise and assist with an NDIS plan review.
Finding Yellow are passionate about the changes and differences they make each day and hold firm to their vision of equality and independence for people with disabilities and special needs.
As a small organisation they have the ability to be quick and flexible, ensuring each individual person is the focus and receives the support that meets their needs.
With a passion for instilling confidence and building long lasting relationships based on mutual trust, the team pride themselves on being nothing short of remarkable which they say happens when you genuinely care. The only way to really see the difference is to experience it.
