The pair secured a spot in the prestigious tournament at Bonville Golf Resort in late November after winning the Hunter River District Ladies Golf Association qualifying event the month before.
From 2500 pairs who entered the event in NSW, just 30 made it to the state finals.
Teams from Royal Canberra and The Australian finished in first and second place respectively.
Vandenbruggen and Reilly – who have played together for about 12 months – were proud to share the podium with teams from much bigger clubs.
“It’s fabulous for Cessnock,” Vandenbruggen said.
Reilly said playing at the Bonville competition was a good experience.
“We had a fantastic time, but the reason we played so well is because we’ve got a great course here (at Cessnock),” she said.
Cessnock Golf Club’s ladies’ competition is played on Wednesday mornings at 8.30am.
