Meanwhile, the Summer Reading Club is on at the libraries once again and participants have the chance to win great prizes.
The annual reading competition rewards children and their families for picking up a book and reading.
Participants earn tickets for their reading and have a chance to win a prize at the beginning of the new school year.
Cessnock mayor Bob Pynsent is encouraging families to get their children involved.
“Reading is an essential skill for everyone and forms the foundation of a child’s learning in their school years and for later on in life,” Cr Pynsent said.
“The Summer Reading Club gives children an incentive to read more and learn to enjoy reading.”
