Pelaw Main's Rohan Tungate has let an eight-point lead slip and will go into the final round of the Australian Solo Speedway Championship at Gillman on Sunday tied on points with Cowra's Brady Kurtz.

For the second round in a row Kurtz claimed wins in all five heats and for the first time was able to collect points from the A-final finishing second to Australian under-21 champion Jack Holder at Mildura’s Olympic Park on Saturday night.
Tungate finished with just eight points from the heats but managed to qualify for and win the B-final from a quality field including Kurri Kurri’s Mason Campton and Victoria’s Max Fricke who both earned 12 points in the heats.
He finished third in the A-final ahead of Newcastle’s reigning Australian champion Sam Masters, who finished with 14 points from the round.
Kurtz has dropped points in just one heat of the series – when he failed to finish with mechanical problems at Kurri Kurri –collecting two maximums of 15 points and a 12.
However, he was excluded from the A-final at Kurri and in round two at Undera and failed to add to his score.
In contrast Tungate added a maximum eight points to his rounds total by winning the opening two rounds.
The results from Mildura leave Tungate and Kurtz tied on 45 points, Max Fricke on 38, Sam Masters 37 and Jack Holder 36. Mason Campton moves up to sixth on 30 points, with fellow Hunter riders Josh Pickering seventh on 28 and Jye Etheridge in equal 10th on 21.
The Australian Solo Speedway Championship concludes at Gillman, in South Australia, on Sunday night.
