Police and Rural Fire Service attend fire at Cessnock Waste Centre

A large amount of discarded tyres was discovered well alight at Cessnock Waste Centre on Sunday night.

Police observed thick black smoke coming from the vicinity of the centre on Old Maitland Road around 8pm Sunday and, accompanied by the Rural Fire Service, attended the scene and gained entry.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
