From March 19 to 23, children between nine and 18 years of age will be invited to audition for the production.
Following the success of Singing in the Rain Jr in 2017, Hunter Drama is taking their team on the road again to bring another stunning musical opportunity to children in the region.
Aladdin Jr is a one-hour abridged version of the full-length Broadway musical which has been reworked to suit young performers.
Through partnering with Musical Theatre International Australasia, which licences the Broadway Jr collection, Hunter Drama is now able to offer its internationally-recognised program to a much broader range of performers.
The travelling Aladdin Jr Hunter Drama on Tour experience also includes Newcastle, Singleton and Maitland.
“We are absolutely thrilled with the high standard and quality of work the Hunter Drama team have produced and are excited to support their program to reach many more students and educators who would not easily have these opportunities afforded to them in their region, ” Musical Theatre International Australasia managing director Stuart Hendricks said.
“We are excited to be supporting an initiative which aims to give as many young people the opportunity to experience the life-changing impact of being a part of a musical and to be upskilling many local teachers, directors, tutors and educators.”
The Cessnock production team includes Drew Holmes (director), Alicia Paterson (musical director), Timothy Shaw (choreographer) and Jennifer Ellicot (costume designer).
Shows will be held at Cessnock Performing Arts Centre on July 20 and 21.
