The fight takes place in Kirra Surf Club in Queensland as Fitzpatrick, 13, a two-time national champion, is unable to fight legally in NSW until he turns 14.
His opponent Halliwell holds the 41kg national title, but Fitzpatrick’s coach Ben Crampton said his young charge had trained hard and was ready to step up in to the new weight division.
“Zack has trained extremely hard. He trains beside Blake Minto who is fighting for the World Boxing Foundation world superlightweight title in Newcastle a week later,” he said.
“I’ve never seen someone so dedicated to training at his age. I’ve had him since he was eight and he has always been the same.
“He has put a bit of weight on since the title’s last year, but believe me it is all muscle. He has a six-pack that any bodybuilder would be proud of and it’s all hard work.”
