The club and foundation has provided about $5000 worth of sporting equipment to the PCYC to take out to schools.
PCYC staff run programs including athletics, fundamental movement, gymnastics, soccer and netball at most primary schools in the Cessnock-Kurri area throughout the year.
Cessnock Lions Club secretary David Harrington said helping local youth is a major focus of the club, which also supports the Youth of the Year public speaking competition and the Mount View Leo Club.
PCYC Cessnock manager Lelio Rossi said the donation was an immense help to the club.
“Now we have so much more equipment, we can go to more schools and have more schools visit us here,” he said.
The PCYC held a well-attended open day on Friday, and its gymnastics and multi-sport program will continue on weekdays throughout the school holidays (excluding Anzac Day).
