Metier Medical has moved into premises at the corner of Darwin Street and North Avenue (opposite Service NSW).
The company develops and delivers a range of safety injection devices, and is also the exclusive distributor of the Mollii suit (a Swedish-designed neuro-rehabilitation device) in Australia.
Metier Medical operations and marketing director Jan Wayland said the business outgrew its home-based office in Cessnock.
She said the new premises would allow the company to comfortably conduct trial therapy sessions for the Mollii suit, and run its medical product operations all under one roof.
The company has established Mollii agencies on the Sunshine Coast and in Brisbane, with another set to open in Melbourne soon.
“We’re looking at 18 to 20 agencies in Australia, with everything driven from here – Cessnock will be the main engine room,” Ms Wayland said.
Manufactured by Swedish company Inerventions, the Mollii suit is designed to assist people with spasticity, motor disability, and increased or decreased muscular tension. It uses electrodes to stimulate movement and relax the muscles.
The company has enlisted Inerventions’ head clinician Jorgen Sandell and Queensland-based occupational therapist Greg Donelly to run the Mollii suit trials in Australia.
