The film festival celebrates 90 years of education at the school, and is the culmination of its whole-school project for term one, called Lights, Camera, Action.
The project was launched on the first day of the school year with the inaugural ‘Eastcars’ – the school’s version of the Oscars, with the students given a red-carpet welcome back to school.
The future-focused learning project was designed to develop, cultivate and highlight the creative skills and talents of all students.
Stage one students interviewed former Cessnock East pupils for a short film; stage two have written a new school song (which will premiere at the festival) and stage three filmed pieces for NBN News’s Junior Journos segment.
The film festival will be held in the school hall from 12pm. Call the school on 4990 1549 for more information.
