The service is designed to make it easier for residents to dispose of old mattresses and ensembles.
Cr Pynsent said these days are very popular and he looks forward to seeing residents taking advantage of the drop-off day in its new location at the council depot.
“We always get a huge turn out on our mattress drop off days. It’s fantastic to be able to offer such a helpful service to our community and to ensure these materials can be properly disposed of,” he said.
“Many mattresses and ensembles contain valuable materials like steel, timber and foam which can be re-used or recycled.”
Up to four mattresses or bases will be accepted per household. Mattress drop-offs must be made using a vehicle as there will be no pedestrian access.
The service is available to Cessnock City Council residents only and proof of address is required.
