Maitland charity The Umbrella Foundation Australia has teamed with sister charity Centre for Hope to organise the charity event at Kurri Kurri Golf Club.
The Umbrella Foundation Australia supports vulnerable and trafficked children and their communities in Nepal, while Centre for Hope helps vulnerable children in local communities.
Funds raised from the event will go towards Kurri Kurri Public school’s Wheels of Hope program and The Umbrella Foundation Australia’s post earthquake Nepal school rebuild.
The Umbrella Foundation Australia chairperson Linda Harwood said many people were still living under plastic. She said the event was a way to “share the love” to people who need it.
“Working together our goal is to build an awareness that children from all communities can achieve their goals no matter the many challenges thrown their way,” Ms Harwood said.
Ms Harwood invited local businesses to sponsor a hole for the event and also called on golfers to organise a team and get involved.
“It’s going to be a really fun day,” she said.
