Channel Nine’s Weekend Today visited the Hunter Valley, crossing live to presenter Lara Vella at Pokolbin’s Kirkton Park hotel throughout the broadcast.
Local produce, helicopter flights and bike rides, animals from Hunter Valley Zoo and the local landscape were among the attractions highlighted during the program.
Location shots from Kirkton Park’s Picnic in the Park (which was held on Saturday) featuring children from Nulkaba Primary, St Philip’s Christian College and Rosary Park Catholic School were also filmed.
The broadcast was an initiative of Destination NSW to promote regional areas in partnership with Destination Sydney Surrounds North and the Hunter Valley Wine and Tourism Association.
The region is currently hosting the two-month long Hunter Valley Wine and Food Festival, which wraps up at the end of June.
“This is a great opportunity to showcase the Hunter Valley and its epicurean delights to a huge national audience and is timely in the lead-up to the launch of a major destination marketing campaign,” HVWTA general manager Jo Thomas said.
The HVWTA is a not-for-profit organisation working in partnership with local, state and national bodies that recognise, celebrate and grow the contribution the Hunter’s wine and tourism industries make to the local economy.
