The event will support two charities close to the hearts of restaurant owners Marlene and Matt Fulham – the Australian Cancer Research Foundation and Bowel Cancer Australia.
Marlene will have her head shaved on the day to raise funds for these charities, in honour of her beloved mother Zenaida, who passed away from bowel cancer in August 2012.
“She was the strongest woman I know, a real inspiration,” Marlene said.
“She was always the first person who wanted to help and was the type of person that would you give you her last dollar if you needed it. She offered help selflessly with no expectation of anything in return.”
Marlene said it has been a whirlwind first year in business for Burgerfiend, with great support from the local community, and that they are looking forward to celebrating with the community on Saturday.
The Cooper Street restaurant will be closed while the event is on, with a limited Burgerfiend menu available at the event in the forecourt at Peden’s.
Food will also be available from Ranga’s Barbecue, and there will be raffles, live music, pop-up stalls from several local businesses, and of course, birthday cake.
The event will run from 11.30am to 4.30pm Saturday.
