Cessnock RSL Sub-branch' hosted a solemn service to commemorate Vietnam Veteran’s Day.
Hosted by Cessnock RSL Sub-branch, Vietnam Veterans Day is commemorated , each year on August 18, the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in 1966.
Cessnock City RSL Pipes and Drums performed a moving march past and there was also a short service and Sub-branch President Max Lewis spoke eloquently about the sacrifices made.
Max said that while the day falls on the anniversary of the battle of Long Tan, other battles Australians served in, such as the Battle of Binh Ba and the Battle of Coral and Balmoral.
This year also marked the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Coral and Balmoral.
