Cessnock Minor Rugby League 30 years’ reunion is fast approaching and organisers are urging everyone to get in and get their tickets so final preparations can be completed.

Tickets for the September 1 reunion are on sale at the Cessnock Leagues Club until close of business on Wednesday, August 29.

The final push comes as the current generation of young Goannas prepare for grand final action on the weekend.

Cessnock under-15s and under-16s meet Dungog and the under-14s play Denman in grand finals at McKeachie’s Oval on Saturday.

On Sunday it is the turn of Cessnock’s outstanding crop of under-11s to play off for premierships.

It’s all Cessnock affair when U11 Black take on u11 White at 10am on Sunday at Baddley Park.

Cessnock under-11 Gold plays East Maitland at 3pm for their division title.

Reunion organising committee member Graham Bailey said excitement was building for the event and it would be fantastic to add some Goannas teams to the club’s proud honour board.

“As this is our only major fundraiser for the year we urge all our current and past participants over 30 years to come along and enjoy the night for the past it will be a reminder of where our club has came from and for the present it will give an insight of the journey to where we are today,” Bailey said.

Tickets are $65 with drinks on arrival at 6.30pm followed by a two course meal and a celebration cake to follow.

On the night there will be a number of interviews as well as auctions of items including two catered tickets for reserve seats at the NRL grand final along with accommodation and golf at Crown Plaza, four Newcastle Supercars tickets and three framed NRL footy jumpers.

“We will also have lucky door prizes and raffle prizes from golf at Vintage, NRL and Cessnock Charity Shield signed footy jumpers wine and vouchers,” Bailey said.

“Get your group together and get your tickets and come along and enjoy.”
