The Kurri Kurri Community Festival promises three days of fun for the whole family as well as an insight into the town’s past.
This year, the festival is run by Kurri Kurri Community Services after the Kurri Kurri Business Chamber passed the baton after last year’s successful festival.
Mike Coddington, CEO of Kurri Kurri Community Services said that celebrations would begin on Thursday, October 25 with a range of events to celebrate Foundation Day.
The town will come out in force to honour the Centenary of Armistice with an open day at Kurri Public School and a street parade on Friday, October 26. Next day the fun will truly ramp up when the festival proper kicks off at 10am.
The day will feature performances from schools, and various performing arts groups as well as such up-and coming musicians as Abbie Lee Robinson, Zoe Barber and Jasmine Earl.
There will also be vintage car displays, and a historical display at the Community Centre.
One highlight is sure to be folk-country sensation and Kurri girl Melody Pool after a bravura performance at last year’s festival. The festival will also feature an array of market stalls from local businesses and craftspeople.
At sunset there will also be a free screening of the Hugh Jackman film The Greatest Showman.
The Festival will run from Thursday, October 25 to Saturday, October 27.
