It’s spring time and the crown jewel of Australian horse racing is upon us. The Melbourne Cup has been revered above all others for owners, trainers, jockeys and spectators alike for more than 150 years, little wonder it is known as the race that stops a nation. Having just celebrated twelve months ownership, new owners Brian McGuigan and Colin Peterson have made fresh changes to the landmark site including on site cellar door and restaurant, cheese and olive tasting rooms, winery and the new addition chocolate shop, along with a new front deck and a fully refurbished Heritage Courtyard.
Located on site, the Baumé Restaurant will be catering for the Melbourne Cup day celebrations, having been awarded the Best New Regional Restaurant at this year’s NSW Restaurant and Catering Awards. Head Chef, Adam Bartley, will provide guests with beautiful canapes on arrival, along with a delicious two course lunch and dessert station.
There will be plenty of entertainment for guests as well with Media and Marketing Officer Stacey Fitzgerald saying this year Ben Ean are trying something new. “We didn’t want to go down the traditional path of sweeps and fashion parades, we wanted something fresh,” she said. “This year we will be hosting Cup Day in the heritage courtyard with live music, a bookie, and betting stalls including blackjack, roulette, along with plenty of prizes on offer”.
