Simone Palfreyman was honoured and shocked to be awarded the title of Businesswoman of the Year at the recent 2018 Hunter Region Business Excellence Awards.
The Principal at Palfreyman Chartered Accountant was also very happy to share the honour.
“This is fantastic recognition for our firm,” she said. “We are a team and I couldn’t actually have won this award without my team. It is also wonderful external recognition of the quality of our team and what we do.”
Ms Palfreyman has been in business for two decades and success has been built upon three important elements.
“We have a massive belief in ethics. We believe that every client, with the right guidance, can achieve their goals. It is our job to help them by educating, motivating and guiding them,” she said. “You can achieve anything you want if you work hard enough, smart enough and you never give up.
“What we do is like providing a helping hand throughout their business journey.”

Specialising in helping small businesses, the second element for success, Ms Palfreyman believes, is having a passion for the work you do.
“I am pretty passionate about small businesses and helping them to succeed,” she said. “Our team’s focus is not on how much we can bill our clients, but on how much we can help our clients.”
The third key to success is a deep sense of community.
“Our community service ethic, sees nearly all of our staff volunteer and give back to organisations which make such a difference,” she said.
