Cessnock Regional Art Gallery will host the talk and Octapod are inviting anyone working for themselves in the arts or creative industries to come along.
The free event will offer professional resources, information and networks for the region’s creatives and is being held in conjunction with the Gallery as part of its monthly Art After Hours events.
Local artist James Whittington will be on hand to chat about his practice and long career while Octapod director Christina Robberds will be speaking about the social, cultural and economic importance of arts and culture for the region.
‘While we acknowledge that it can be tough as an artist or self employed creative, we believe that getting together as a sector - sharing resources and information – can help to drive a diverse and inclusive cultural economy,” Ms Robberds said.
“Often there are extraordinary creative resources within communities which are untapped or under supported and we want to celebrate the richness of our region’s arts and culture.’
The event will be on Thursday 25 October from 6pm to 8pm.. To register, visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/art-after-hours-arty-party-registration-50345574970
