First opening its doors in 1868, the school will mark the auspicious occasion with a special event at the school on Saturday 3 November from 10am to 2pm.
Current and former staff and students will be in attendance to reminisce about their days at the historic school, as will Member for Cessnock Clayton Barr, Cesnock Mayor Bob Pynsent, and director of Public Schools NSW Martin Rosser.
Visitors will have the chance to sign the 150th anniversary guest book, view a raft of memorabilia and enjoy a tour of the site.
There will also be a tree planting ceremony and the removal of the existing time capsule which will be updated with current items.
The day will also feature live music, post ripping and chainsaw display, a working blacksmith, camel rides and vintage car displays.
After the event wraps up, further casual celebrations will continue at Bellbird Workers Club. For more information, phone the school office on 4998 1331.
