The popular event, now in its 16th year will see works exhibited at Stonehurst Cedar Creek, Noyce Brothers, and Undercliff wineries from Saturday 3 November to Thursday 18 November.
The festival will marry gorgeous sculptures with picturesque scenery, with more than 100 scaled down works featuring in cellar doors while large signature pieces will grace the driveways, olive and poplar groves of the Wollombi vineyards.
The event will be officially opened on Saturday 3 November from 2-4pm at Fireshed Gallery with an afternoon of wine, canapes and a celebration of great art.
The festival will also feature a small sculpture show – Re: Worn – at the Fireshed Gallery.
Curated by local jeweller and artist Kes Harper, the exhibition will showcase ten artists who have been commissioned to make jewellery-referenced sculptures in their chosen medium – stone, wood, paper, textiles or metal.
Artists have also been encouraged to submit jewellery, wearables or small-scale works and all pieces will be available for sale.
“Artists will reflect on the often ephemeral nature of jewellery in the modern, western world and, by up scaling, give it a story, life, and identity of its own, independent of being carried by a wearer,” Ms Harper said.
“These sculptural artworks aim to challenge the viewer on their concept of jewellery and the wearing of it.”
If that wasn’t enough to tempt event the most fussy art fancier,, Sculpture in the Vineyards will also feature a ticketed event Luminaria, which will offer an intimate night under the stars at Undercliff Winery with illuminated contemporary performances, art, installations and music.
Luminaria will be on at Undercliff Winery on Saturday 3 November from 6.30 to 8.30pm. Tickets are $40 per person.
