Well, know you have the chance to be rewarded for your reading prowess thanks to the Summer Reading Club.
An initiative of Cessnock and Kurri Libraries, the club tasks enthusiastic bookworms with completing as many books as possible over the summer break.
Aside from instilling a love of reading in our region’s children, there will also be prizes on offer for the most prodigious readers at the beginning of the new school year.
“Reading is an essential skill for everyone and forms the foundation of a child’s learning in their school years and later on in life,” Mayor Bob Pynsent said.
“The Summer Reading Club gives children an incentive to read more and learn to enjoy reading.
The Suumer reading club commences next month and you can register your interest from Friday 1 December by visiting the front counter at either Cessnock or Kurri Libraries and picking up your Summer Reading Club kit.
