The church moved to the former Presbyterian church on the corner of King and Cooper streets in August after the 114-year-old Baptist church on the corner of Hall and Quarrybylong streets burnt down in February 2017.
Parishioners had been meeting in the Baptist church hall after the fire, but put the property up for sale after the Presbyterian church hit the market.
“It all kind of fell into place,” Cessnock Baptist Church treasurer Les Wells said.
The baptist congregation is currently operating from the building under a temporary contract, but will officially buy the space next year.
“We’re very happy to be in there,” Mr Wells said. “It’s slightly larger than the baptist church.”
The church recently held a hymn sing, but the carols will be their first big community event at the new site.
The carols will begin with a free sausage sizzle at 6pm followed by the carols at 7pm. There will be performances by professional soloists accompanied by Myra Hill on the organ and guest speaker Andre Cook Martins.
