In the pre-Christmas, hustle and bustle, both libraries will be offering Christmas Craft workshops (Cessnock – Monday 17 December, 4-5pm. Kurri Tuesday 18 December, 4-5pm) as well as a special Santa story time with a very special visitor (Cessnock – Tuesday, 18 December, 10-10.45am. Kurri Wednesday 19 December 10-10.45am).
The fun doesn’t stop after the Yuletide festivities either, with an array of workshops and activities on offer such as building cubby houses from newspaper, exploring the world of computer coding with motion sensors and learning how to up-cycle old t-shirts into funky tote bags.
If that wasn’t enough, children will also have the chance to show off their video and board game skills as well as taking in a film and craft day.
Some of the more curious children might also enjoy an informative and possibly messy workshop on the inner workings of the human digestive system.
There will also be the chance to learn more about how our bodies work at the That's Gross! body science workshops which offer budding biologists the chance to make some fake snot and even take home a piece of edible skin layer cake.
“Our libraries are a fantastic place for children to learn a new skill, have fun and make new friends and there’s also plenty on offer for local parents too,” Cessnock Mayor Bob Pynsent said.
