Blair on Monday became the first woman to circumnavigate Australia solo and unassisted when she sailed into Sydney Harbour and moored at Rushcutters Bay.

It's the second world record for the 34-year-old in as many years - with her first coming after she completed a 135-day loop of Antarctica in 2017.

Her latest adventure wasn't all smooth sailing, however.

At one point a violent fall off a wave caused a through-hole fitting to pop out and water to flood into the boat which started sinking. Some quick repairs were needed.

As part of the around-Australia record - which is yet to be ratified - Blair couldn't receive assistance or supplies meaning she needed to pack all her fuel, food and water before setting off.

Sydney-based Blair is a vegetarian so she wouldn't catch fish fresh from the ocean but whales, dolphins and birds did visit her 50-foot yacht to say g'day.

After finishing her trip, Blair - originally from the Sunshine Coast - said her message to others with grand plans was to believe in themselves.

"A lot of people tell you, you can't do stuff and I think a lot of people also let other people's doubts get to them," she told reporters.

"Just remember that if you want to do something you can. You've just got to dig deep and go for it and it doesn't take specific skill - it takes time and effort and dedication and focus."

While she's only just returned to land, Blair already has a list of other records she is considering attempting and plans to set sail again in 12 months' time.
