The 23-year-old German has had an incredibly successful 2018 in the United Kingdom and in Europe and is looking forward to his debut appearance in Australia.
At 19 years of age, Riss became the youngest ever rider to win the World Long Track Championship in 2014, was runner up in 2015 and won the title for a second time in 2016.
He was a member of the German team that won the World Long Track Team Championship in 2014 and he won the German Speedway Championship in 2016.
Riss has had a very busy professional 2018 season in the United Kingdom and in Europe.
In the UK he rode in the Premiership League with King’s Lynn and in the Championship League with Edinburgh.
His King’s Lynn team finished at the top of the Premiership League table and qualified for the play-off finals.
It was a matter of so close yet so far when they suffered a heartbreaking loss to Poole.
Riss also competed for Vargana Speedway in the Swedish League and in Germany competed for AC Landshut going on to win the 2018 German League.
It will be a baptism of fire for Riss when he lines up for the annual Jason Crump Invitational.
The field sees the return to Australian competition for talented local riders Sam Masters, Rohan Tungate, Mason Campton and Jye Etheridge following their professional contracts in the United Kingdom and Europe.
For another local rider it will be the chance to celebrate his first Great Britain contract.
Josh MacDonald from Cessnock will ride for the 2019 Workington Comets Club where he will be team mate for Mason Campton.
Fresh from winning the NSW solo title Jack Holder joins the field along with (former Jason Crump Invitational winner) Justin Sedgeman and Ty Proctor.
It’s a quality field with more than half of the riders taking part in this year’s event competing professionally on the international speedway scene in 2018.
Racing gets underway at 7pm on Boxing Day.
