In celebration of the Hunter Region's locally-produced food and wine, as well as Cessnock's array of unique businesses, STOMP is your chance to immerse yourself in all there is to love about the city and its surrounds.
This Cessnock event is centred around one of the most traditional methods of maceration in the history of winemaking-grape stomping.
Also known as grape treading, this time honoured technique involves grapes being repeatedly trampled in vats by barefoot festival goers; to release the juices and begin the process of fermentation. It's a little bit messy, but it's also incredibly fun, and definitely something everyone should experience at least once.
This year the Cessnock STOMP Festival will celebrate its 4th birthday, and has already earned itself a reputation as the CBD's greatly anticipated flagship event.
Featuring fine food, exceptional wine, and activities to suit all ages, STOMP is a free event that could easily be described as a picturesque pop-up theme park, set up on Vincent Street in Cessnock's CBD, and supported by all surrounding local businesses. In the words of Mr Burke himself, the Cessnock STOMP Festival is literally 600 meters of fun for everyone.
With thanks to the region's fabulous wines and abundance of fresh local produce, the Hunter Valley has attracted, and is now home to, some of Australia's most talented chefs and restaurateurs.
For this reason, every STOMP festival caters to whatever your taste buds desire, from world-class fine dining to relaxed, casual fare.
This year's festival will also debut a new entertainment stage, offering live performances from local community groups to create a little extra ambience as you enjoy the unforgettable gastronomical journey the event provides.
As always, there will also be a huge amount on offer for the children, too.
Whether you're into fine wine, incredible food, live entertainment, or you just want to know what is feels like to stomp barefoot in a large vat full of grapes, this local event is definitely one that is worth adding to your agenda.
Tickets are available for the VIP Wine Experience; taste some of the best hunter valley wines with Gundog estate. $25 per ticket, learn about the wine making, history, origin of grapes and enjoy tasting 6 different hunter valley wines in a private VIP marquee. This year's the Cessnock STOMP Festival is April 28 2019, from 10am to 4pm, on Vincent Street Cessnock.
