Brailey, who has entrenched himself in the Sharks' top-17 since making his NRL debut in round one, was being targeted by several rival clubs.

However the 20-year-old has opted to remain the Shire where he will continue to compete with older brother Jayden for hooking minutes.

"I'm a local junior; I always wanted to be here. Cronulla is my home, I live two minutes down the road. I always wanted to stay," Brailey said on Friday.

Jayden has averaged a tick over 60 minutes a game in the opening six rounds, leaving Blayke with a briefer but often crucial role in tight contests.

Asked about his experience in the top grade so far, Blayke said: "It's been good, hopefully get a few more wins under the belt but it's good to get that first taste.

"You always want more but I'm happy to be picked every week."

The length of Blayke's extension clouds the long-term future of Jayden, who comes off-contract at the end of next year.

Jayden has been the club's starting No.9 since the 2016 retirement of Michael Ennis and passed the 50-game milestone last week.

Blayke said the pair were relishing every moment being in the same team.

"Another year together will be outstanding," he said.

"So just to play together, it's a really proud moment for myself and my family. We're just going to enjoy every game together."

Blayke is one of four rookies to debut under first-year coach John Morris along with Bronson Xerri, Briton Nikora and William Kennedy.

"It's exciting news for us to be able to hang onto Blayke," Morris said.

"He's a local kid, he's come through our system from when he was a 13-year-old. And while he is already playing in the NRL he is a vital part of our building for the future."
