Ms Murray has lived in the Cessnock area for the last 25 years, and said climate change and education were top priorities in her campaign.
"As a chemical engineer, I am driven by facts, data and scientific research," she said.
"Together with 97 per cent of the world's climate scientists, I accept climate change is real and that humans have been the key driver.
"According to the World Meteorological Organisation, the 20 warmest years on record have all been in the last 22 years, with the top four in the last four years.
"It's time to get our heads out of the sand, listen to the scientists and take action on climate change.
"The community will embrace a plan that also ensures today's mining and power workers have access to training that leads to meaningful employment in 21st-century jobs."
In the 2016 federal election, the Greens received 7.1 per cent of first preference votes.
"I firmly believe that education is the only way to break the cycle of disadvantage. A first class education should be the right of every child in Australia," Ms Murray said.
"The Greens will ensure every public school reaches 100 per cent of the Schooling Resource Standard by 2023.
"Free study will ensure that young people start their working lives without a massive HECS debt, bringing home ownership within reach much earlier.
"I am standing for The Greens because we need to clean up the mess we have made, not leave it to the next generation."
The federal election will be held on May 18.
