From May 20 every person caught drink-driving in NSW will immediately lose their license for three months on the spot and cop a massive fine under strict new laws.

This includes drivers who return a low range reading of between 0.05 - 0.08 who previously would have escaped license suspension.
Cessnock's Vincent Street Kitchen + Bar has been running their Bestie Courtesy Bus on Fridays and Saturdays since opening in December 2018.
But with the introduction of the new NSW Drink Driving laws, the venue has taken action by making the bus available to use for pick up and drop off each hour the venue is open for trade.

"A majority of Cessnock locals rely on their Drivers Licenses for work.
"The wrong decision on a night out, now more than ever, can have a long lasting effect on their ability to work and ultimately, their family lives.

The Vincent Street bus can take up to 11 passengers.
While the courtesy bus generally operates within a 5km radius of their premises at 201 Vincent Street in Cessnock; those just outside the area are encouraged to book the bus if visiting the venue.
"If we can give our patrons access to book the bus, we hopefully remove any temptation to drive home after a night out and ensure the safety of everyone in the community." Added Ms Enright.

As part of the Road Safety Plan 2021, Transport NSW says penalties have been strengthened to further deter drink driving and reduce alcohol related trauma on NSW roads.
