The first deployment was conducted last Thursday in Branxton which included 19 police including general duties, the Target Action Group, licensing police, the Domestic Violence Arrest Team, Traffic and Highway Patrol and the Trail Bike Squad.

In total, 39 cars were stopped for random breath testing, eight people were searched, seven licensed premises were inspected and two Apprehended Domestic Violence Order compliance checks were conducted.

Police issued 23 traffic infringements, five vehicles were defected, three men were arrested for aggravated breaking, entering and stealing (two) and supplying a prohibited drug, a woman was arrested for a stolen motorcycle and 17 licensing breaches were recorded.

Hunter Valley Police District commander Superintendent Chad Gillies said similar operations will be conducted regularly across the entire district.

"The main feedback I have received from local communities, is the desire to have a visible policing presence in their towns," he said. "The smaller towns throughout our district deserve to see their local police as often as possible.

"These operations are but one way we can deploy our district resources and not only address issues across the wide spectrum of domestic violence compliance, traffic and road trauma, volume crime and anti-social behaviour; but it will hopefully reassure the community that we have such resources to deploy as required.

"I want everyone in their communities, houses and businesses to feel safer through the timely roll-out of similar operations.
