Upgrade works at Veterans Memorial Park, Aberdare are set to kick off at the end of this month.
The upgrades will involve significant improvements to the reserve.
The city's youngest residents will be happy to hear they'll be getting a new playground and a children's bike path to enjoy.
The works will also include the construction of shelters, the installation of seating, BBQ facilities and landscaping works.
Cessnock Mayor Bob Pynsent said the upgrades to Veterans Memorial Park were identified as a priority for council.
"The park is a popular spot for local families and council is excited to deliver this project," Cr Pynsent said.

"Residents are encouraged to check out other local parks including McFarlane Street, Cessnock or George Jeffery Park, Kearsley during the construction period."
Council was successful in receiving grant funding under the NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund for the project.
