The upgrades will involve significant improvements to the reserve.
The city's youngest residents will be happy to hear they'll be getting a new playground and a children's bike path to enjoy.
The works will also include the construction of shelters, the installation of seating, BBQ facilities and landscaping works.
Cessnock Mayor Bob Pynsent said the upgrades to Veterans Memorial Park were identified as a priority for council.
"The park is a popular spot for local families and council is excited to deliver this project," Cr Pynsent said.
