Cessnock City Council will upgrade the stadium's flooring as part of its Recreation Buildings Renewal Program.
Roller derby line marking will be added to the floors, which currently have basketball, netball, futsal and volleyball markings.
Cessnock Mayor Bob Pynsent said it was great to be able to deliver repairs and upgrades to this "important community facility".
"We have so many user groups enjoying this space every week and we are pleased to undertake flooring works that allow for the continued enjoyment of the space," Cr Pynsent said.
The upgrade works began on Monday and will be carried out until Friday, July 19.
