Tour announce: A-ha and Rick Astley are heading to the Hunter in February

Rick Astley and a-ha are headlining an '80s-inspired A Day On The Green at Bimbadgen next summer.

Who can forget a suave Astley in high-waited chinos and angular jacket clicking his fingers to the Never Gonna Give You Up beat?

Or a-ha's pop masterpiece Take On Me with its retro pencil-sketch video clip? You will be able to bop along to both in the Hunter Valley on Saturday, February 29.

Norwegian trio a-ha dominated pop charts worldwide during the 1980s and are celebrating the 35th anniversary of their debut album Hunting High And Low by performing the classic album in full as well as other favourites. The album sold more than 11 million copies worldwide.

Take On Me - a-ha

Singer Morten Harket, keyboardist Mags Furuholmen and guitarist Paul Waaktaar-Savoy last visited Australia in 1986.

"Australia was the country we played our first-ever live concerts and was our first brush with worldwide fame," Furuholmen said.

"It was a thrilling adventure to be there on the opposite side of the world and it's a thrill to return in 2020 - finally we will be back where it all started."

Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley

Astley has sold more than 40 million albums fuelled by hits like Whenever You Need Somebody, Together Forever, When I Fall in Love, She Wants To Dance With Me and Cry For Help.

In 2016 his album 50 became his first UK number one since his 1987 debut. He has just toured with Take That.

Synth-pop stars Pseudo Echo and I Know Leopard complete the A Day On The Green line-up.

Tickets for the '80s-inspired A Day On The Green go on sale Friday, July 26, through Ticketmaster.
