After a visit to Hafnarjordur, Iceland with her husband Col (a long-term Mercury astronomy columnist) in 2018, Mrs Maybury started an artwork inspired by the picturesque landscape.
"Marcia loved the spectacular glaciers, the snow covered craggy mountains, the volcanic upheavels and particularly the frozen waterfalls sliding down from withering heights," Mr Maybury said.
Mr Maybury said his wife "fell in love" with the Foss a Sidu waterfall in the south of Iceland.
She started a painting of the scene on her return to Australia, but was then hospitalised and died on February 15 of this year before she could finish the artwork.
But her tutor at Branxton Inn Art Class, Stephen James and her dear friends in the class decided to step in and finish the painting using Marcia's paints, brushes and even her easel.
The painting is now on display in the Towns With Heart Visitor Information Centre in Lang Street, Kurri Kurri and will be exhibited in the Town of Murals Art Show, which starts on October 10.
There will also be a new section in this year's art show called The Marcia Maybury Memorial Traditional Art Award, honouring the artist and former Towns With Heart volunteer and committee member.
