A man had to be airlifted to John Hunter Hospital after he suffered head injuries in a tree lopping accident at Congewai, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service has reported.

Three ambulance crews and the rescue helicopter were called out to a Congewai Road address on Monday morning after the 49-year-old man suffered head injuries.
"He was initially treated on scene by paramedics prior to the arrival of the helicopter critical care medical crew," a statement from the rescue helicopter service said.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said the man was airlifted to the hospital in a serious but stable condition.
