Laura Brenner, also known as Miss Laura Jean, will take part in the competition at rock n roll, rockabilly event ChromeFest in October, where she will vie for the chance to represent Australia in an international competition.
The competition is invite-only and Miss Brenner was asked to take part after placing third in the Miss Modern Day category of the best dressed competition at Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival earlier this year.
She was first inspired by the retro lifestyle when her father entered a car show after spending years restoring an old vehicle.
"I saw the pinup girls standing with the cars," Ms Brenner said. "My parents said 'you should do that'."
So she bought a dress online and wore it to the next Nostalgia Festival, receiving lots of compliments on her outfit.
"It's a very flattering style," Ms Brenner said. "It suits all shapes.
"I even got my mum into wearing it."
The 24-year-old has been busy making a dress for the upcoming pinup competition, where she is planning to go for a car-related theme as she has an old Chevy she takes to car shows.
The retro lover is also supporting Asthma Australia through the quest - being a long-term sufferer of the breathing condition.
"I had it really bad as a kid," she said.
"I was hospitalised at age five, and in winter it was always really bad.
"It's got better as I've got older. But it affects a lot of people."
Ms Brenner said the money she raises will help support research for a cure as well as asthma management plans.
