The 1950s was a time when rock and roll influenced and created a social movement for the day's teenagers; the way they dressed, their hairstyles, the language and the love.
Break out the bobby socks and bubble gum and step back to that era when the Class of '59's Rock 'n' Roll Circus tour arrives at Cessnock Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, August 31.
You'll swinging in the aisles and jiving the night away to the timeless songs of original rock 'n' roll legends including Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley, Jerry Lee Lewis and the Big Bopper.
Award-winning performer Anthony Petrucci plays Elvis Presley in the production. A fan of The King since childhood, Petrucci made his first national television appearance on the prestigious talent contest, Channel 9's Star Struck, at the age of 20.
His performance as Elvis captured the hearts of Australian viewers and he went on to win the competition, which allowed him to perform in the world-famous Legends In Concert show at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas, appearing as the youngest Elvis ever.
Petrucci also had the opportunity to perform in Elvis's birthplace of Tupelo, Mississippi; and went on to be crowned the Ultimate Elvis Presley Tribute at the 2018 Parkes Elvis Festival.
The show features internationally-renowned entertainer Scott "Buddy" Cameron as Buddy Holly.
Cameron is no stranger to portraying Buddy Holly, having done so for well over a decade to many a rapturous crowd.
He received rave reviews for his portrayal of the '50s legend in the international smash hit musical Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story from 2005 through to 2009 and, to this day, continues to don the trademark horn-rimmed glasses, the ever-so-engaging and charismatic figure and a lilting vocal hiccup in many other productions.
Petrucci and Cameron are joined by Matty Breen as Jerry Lee Lewis, James Nation-Ingle as Bill Haley and Simon O'Connor as The Big Bopper.
With world-class performers and a catalogue of endless hits, the Class of '59's Rock 'n' Roll Circus is a foot-tapping, head-bopping, fantastic show for all.
The show will start at 8pm. Call into the box office, phone 4993 4266 or visit cessnockperformingartscentre.com.au for tickets.
