WELL-REGARDED: The newly-appointed Cessnock City Council general manager, Lotta Jackson. Ms Jackson will start in her new role on September 30.

Cessnock City Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Lotta Jackson to the position of general manager.

Ms Jackson will replace former general manager Stephen Glen, who announced his retirement earlier in the year and finished with council in July.

Ms Jackson has extensive local government experience, spanning over 20 years, her most recent role as the General Manager of Norfolk Island Regional Council. Ms Jackson has also held executive positions at Tenterfield Shire Council and Glen Innes Severn Council.

Cessnock City mayor Bob Pynsent congratulated Ms Jackson on her success and said he was looking forward to working together.

"Lotta is well-regarded in local government and has the proven ability to lead organisations," he said.

"She is passionate about community and is dedicated to driving positive change.

"Lotta has a broad range of skills and a genuine focus on community.

"I look forward to welcoming Lotta to the Cessnock local government area."

Ms Jackson is eager to start the role and looks forward to getting to know staff and the community, and liaising closely with the mayor and councillors in achieving outcomes.

"I'm looking forward to exploring the wishes and aspirations of the people of the area now and into the future, including local employment and services, and maintaining and enhancing the environment for both residents and visitors to enjoy," she said.

Ms Jackson will commence in the position on September 30.
