Recent studies show that offering a personalised service is the key factor in the level of customer service provided, and this is something that we can do really well in our local businesses here in Cessnock. It's all about offering the personalised service that major centres may lack. How do you feel when the person making your coffee remembers your name or order? It's a nice feeling, isn't it.
We have a unique offering of local shops and service providers across our region and by taking the time to listen to what our customer is looking for we can make their experience more enjoyable and therefore they are more likely to return to your store.
Nominations are open until September 8 and can be made at selected stores, and online at cessnockchamber.com.au.
Our volunteer board have been very busy the last few weeks with our new initiative, Support Cessnock. We are leading the charge to make the choice where you can and support local businesses in Cessnock.
We know that there are some items that you cannot source in Cessnock, but there are many local retailers who can special order items in, it can be as simple as asking!
We also hear the comments around parking availability in Cessnock CBD and how it can be easier in major shopping centres. Did you know that if you chose to park in the Cumberland Street carpark (behind Grices Bakery) and you walked to either Edward Street, or Hall Street, that it is similar to the distance if you parked at Greenhills and walked to a shop at the other end of the centre?
What we are asking is to please, where you can, make the choice to support local businesses, employing local people. Our retailers and local businesses really need your support.
There is a lot of movement in our CBD with businesses moving or renovating! The KFC development is progressing well, Flanagans' new store looks amazing and Blanchie's are now on the main street, improving the facade of the store they have moved into. It is great to see a lot of confidence from business owners in our town, and I understand there is plenty more on the way. Until next time, keep those nominations coming!
