Hunter Hands of Hope, which formed in December last year to provide meals for homeless people, now provides food and outreach services from a shopfront in Vincent Street, five nights a week.
Freemasons Cessnock raised $1000 through a barbecue, and received a dollar-for-dollar grant from Masonicare, enabling the lodge to present a donation of $2000 to the charity.
The lodge's Worshipful Master Max Katz-Barber said Freemasons Cessnock has a proud history of helping the community and continue to assist where possible.
"Hunter Hands of Hope is truly a charity worth getting behind, as they provide a haven, provide meals, and treat those indeed with the dignity and respect they need," he said.
"Freemasons Cessnock will continue to assist this charity in the future and hope the community will continue to rally as they have."
Hunter Hands of Hope president Melissa Gontier said community support is critical to enable the service to continue.
"The services provided by Hunter Hands of Hope are totally reliant upon volunteer labour and community donations," she said.
