Exquisite Cakes by Lennert handed over its premises at 130 Vincent Street to Melanie O'Malley from MMM Cakes on Monday.
Ms O'Malley has run her business from home for four-and-a-half years, and said she was excited by the opportunity to expand into a main street shopfront.
Exquisite Cakes owners Lennert and Rienna de Visser are taking a well-earned break, after seven years of operation in Vincent Street.
Meanwhile, Balloon Worx is moving across the road on Tuesday to 92 Vincent Street, the former Flanagan's Menswear store, which moved next door (into the former newsagency) in August.
Sportspower is expanding next door from its current premises into Balloon Worx's former store.
A new business, Cessnock Bicycle Company, has opened in the former Beveridge's Menswear premises at 88 Vincent Street.
Auto One Cessnock is entering its final days, closing down on October 31 (or beforehand if all stock is sold), with owners Alan and Janelle Drummond retiring after more than three decades in business.
Pizazz Boutique is also closing down at the end of the month after 30-plus years in business.
Julie Walker, who has owned the business for 18 years after buying it from her sister Dee, is retiring and is looking forward to travelling and spending time with her family.
She said she will miss "all of her lovely customers" and said that all of the Pizazz brands can be bought at her sister's store in Nelson Bay, or online at pizazzboutique.com.au.
